JAISALMER - THAR DESERT CAMP

(60km/4-5hrs)

MM13_1218_112.jpg

As we head further into the Annapurna Conservation Area, we ride through some of the most amazing landscapes of this epic adventure. Today will see us tackle a large river crossing in Lower Mustang and see the namesake wild horses grazing the valley floor as we ride past.  After our lunch stop in Jomsom, we’ll cross the river and continue onward to Muktinath.  Enroute, we’ll encounter many trekkers from across the globe, and reach and elevation of 3710m, our highest climb into the mighty Himalayas.

On arrival we’ll check in to our accommodation and can take a short breath-taking hike up to the Temple where Buddhism and Hinduism is practiced side by side in harmony. As the sun sets over this incredibly graceful land the hardships of the past few days to get us here are long forgotten. If you’re feeling brave, an early morning dip in the fountains awaits!

Day 07

THAR DESERT CAMP - JODHPUR

(80km/5-6hrs)

MM13_1221_046.jpg

Refreshed from having breathed the crisp mountain air of the mighty Himalayas, we are ready to tackle our descent from Muktinath.

Our first stop will be in a small village called Kagbeni. Here we have the opportunity to interact with the local children and villagers as well as take a short walk to visit the local monastery where many Yogi’s come to pray. These Yogi’s are known to isolate themselves in the caves overlooking the village to practice their meditation and rituals in solitude.

From here, we’ll head back the same way we came past Kalopani and end up at our next destination, Tatopani.  “Tato” meaning ‘hot’ and “Pani” meaning ‘water’, the local natural hot springs is a great way to soak the bone rattling roads of the past few days away. Relaxed and recharged, dinner and an early night, before we hit the road back to Pokhara.

Day 09

GHANERAO - UDAIPUR

(100km/4-5hrs)

MM2015_1108_0274.jpg

Today is a day of leisure, Pokhara is a beautiful, modern and busy town surrounded by high Himalayan snow-capped mountains overlooking the Fewa Lake (Phewa Tal).

If you didn’t celebrate too heavy the night before, a stroll around the Lake is highly recommended. You could take it easy and hang out at one of the many local restaurant or bars along the lake, or maybe take a canoe ride/hike to visit the World Peace Pagoda.

Feeling adventurous? Activities such as paragliding, bungee jumping, zip flying, ultra-light flights and many other activities can be booked direct from the hotel. We’ll reconvene for dinner before another overnight stay in the hotel.

(185km/6hrs)

MM18_0303_048.jpg

Today we will head eastbound and follow the Trishuli River all the way to Nuwakot. With stunning views reminiscent of Vietnam and Thailand’s terraced rice paddy fields and farm land, we’ll ride through parts of rural Nepal that not very many tourists get to see.

On arrival, we’ll check in to our very special overnight stay. This Heritage site was sadly devastated by the 2015 earthquakes, but has since been painstakingly restored to its former glory.

As our generous farm style meal is cooked in the open kitchen, you can take a quick stroll to visit the Nuwakot Palace or sit and relax watching the sunset over the valley. Truly a spectacular way to spend our last night before heading back to Kathmandu.
